Teen Wolf Season and Series Finale
Oct. 22nd, 2017 10:10 pmI was ready for Teen Wolf to end. Not because I wasn't enjoying it or that I had lost interest. Rather, I am firmly of the opinion that series 'need' to end and that an endless, long running series eventually runs itself into the ground.
Teen Wolf wasn't the best scripted series either, with it's attraction being the characters and their interaction rather than the plot. Season 5 managed to pull itself back from (imho) the dulldrums. Season 6 however suffered the absence of key characters and a lackluster plot. Thus, I was ready for it to end and I waited for the entire 6b season to air before watching it.
Spoilers below:
( season 6b spoilers )
I plan on rewatching the whole series with my niece.
Thanks Teen Wolf. You get better on rewatches :)
Fangirl grumbling
Jul. 23rd, 2017 07:24 pmAn example. An acquaintance has recently started sporting Star Wars memorabilia/fan wear and my instant reaction was 'you are not a fan. you are a fake'. I am well aware that this acquaintance only saw episodes 1 to 3 a few years ago when one of her friends made her watch it. My hair stands on end. She saw Star Wars in chronological order. O.o I am aghast.
I realise that I am being ridiculous. I know I'm being pretentious and all together superior to a degree most unbecoming. Yet, I feel that way I do. My niece by sheer virtue of her youth is also a recent fan, and yet I do not mind her recentness. Why then does M's fannish appreciation irk me so? I feel this way at times when I hear people wax lyrical about marvel or DC in the cinema, expressing their innocent glee over future movies and plots. I say to myself: 'You are too young to appreciate the awesomeness of this movie/plot/trailer'.
My conclusion is thus: I am old curmudgeon
Star Wars and thoughts about Last Jedi
Jul. 17th, 2017 08:00 pmI really love that movie.
It's a perfect addition to the original Star Wars trilogy
I remain unhappy about episodes 1 to 3 (I've mentioned this before)
I liked the Force Awakens but only moderately. I thought that Abrams and Disney missed out on telling a really good story. Instead they regurgitated A New Hope with Rey at the helm which as a whole I don't mind as I don't really like Luke but as a sequel to the great trilogy, the Force Awakens was a disappointment.
I'm not really terribly enthusiastic about the Last Jedi for those reasons. I want to see more Rey but I fear for the story and the broader verse.
I'm going to watch Rogue One again.
Social Media stuff and thoughts
Jul. 16th, 2017 08:51 pmThis post is about two 'friends' of mine and their behaviour on social media. I feel a need to capture my thoughts on paper as it were, as formulating my thoughts into the written word helps me categorize my feelings on the matter.

In other news, my tumblr page is full of female doctors. Hurrah!
in other other news, I think I'm getting a cold. Poo.
I think I am done with Dr Who
Jul. 15th, 2017 09:18 pmShe's cute, funny and just the sort of Companion the Doctor deserves. I'm not too sure though about whether Bill deserves the Doctor though.
I think I've had enough of Dr Who. I haven't enjoyed 12 nor his relationship with Clara. I think Peter Capaldi is doing a great job, but its the story lines. Even the end of 11's run was weak. I haven't enjoyed many episodes and the only one of 12's I liked was the Christmas Special: The Husbands of River Song. That's it.
I don't like the stories, I'm tired of the pointless drama and it's just. I think I''m done.
Justice League Trailer
Mar. 29th, 2017 08:26 pmI remain optimistic about Wonder Woman, as it at least looks fun. DC fooled me with Suicide Squad but I'm hoping Wonder Woman breaks the curse on their efforts.
However, Justice League... worries me more. It's the live action version of the JL: War movie (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3060952/?ref_=nv_sr_1) which was released not all that long ago (2014) and was a great movie. In addition, it had everyone - including Green Latern and Shazam (but no Aquaman). I don't mind the addition of Aquaman to the roster, as I a) love seeing Ronon in movies and b) do not have a Big Bang Theory aversion to Aquaman.
CW nearly gave us the Flashpoint Paradox storyline, but didn't, so with Jason Momoa as Aquaman we have the option of a cool live action version of the Flashpoint Paradox (which Batman v Superman may have hinted at). HOWEVER, I am doubtful of DC's capability of creating a good team movie, and I fear for Justice League. It almost doesn't matter if Superman is waiting in the wings as a surprise 'Big Gun' to take out Dark Seid, because... I fear the movie will lack the humour, fun and lightness of the original story. The trailer looks good, but I'm feeling very much a sense of 'fool me once...' with it.
The sad thing is, I want DC to succeed. I want a good JL movie. I love Marvel, and it remains my favourite verse, and not every Marvel movie has been fantastic, but DC shouldn't be failing this hard. Why? Because they've been giving us good feature length cartoons for years. And wonderful cartoon series for years. My teenage years hold fond memories of the old WB Batman, Superman and JL cartoons. I want a fun, light-hearted with powerful emotions movie. Marvel (for all of its issues) has done that successfully for years now. Sure, sure, Marvel's success may also be its downfall as it milks the gravy boat (mixed metaphors for the win) but aside from Avengers 2, I delight in each installment. Civil War trounced Batman v Superman. Dr Strange whipped Suicide Squad. And you know what, who would ever have thought that Superman would be outshone by Captain America. But he has been. My heart is big enough to enjoy Cap and Sups. I want a cool, awesome DC/JK movie. Not dark. Not dramatic and overwhelming with drama.
Come on, DC. Be as cool as you could be.
Movie Review: Suicide Squad
Feb. 2nd, 2017 09:29 pmExpanded: Based on the trailers (never trust trailers) and initial reviews I thought this was better than Batman v Superman. It just wasn't. It wasn't worse, but it wan't better. It felt just as lacklustre and 'trying too hard' as B v S, but where B v S had at least pace, good fight scenes and Wonder Woman, Suicide Squad felt flat, rushed and like it missed the mark.
Will and Margot were good. The rest were iffy.
DC, fail again I fear. You better not stuff up Wonder Woman. I still want her to dress more sensibly for battle, but whatever. I still have hopes for this one.
In other news, my Tumblr feed is all about punching Nazis (in RL) which is cool. It does however make me want to rewatch Captain America, First Avenger.
In, other, other news, I saw Rodney in Incorporated! Hurrah! Post-climate-apocalytic world run by evil corporations isn't scary at all.
Sherlock Season 4
Jan. 21st, 2017 11:20 pmI had mixed feelings about season 4. I didn't particularly enjoy season 3. or season 2 if I'm honest. It's the same reason I haven't really enjoyed (whole heartedly) Doctor Who since season 7.
And the malais is? "Trying too hard to be clever"
( spoilers )
Disappointed.
Book Review: Skin Game - Harry Dresden
Jan. 7th, 2017 11:36 am( spoilerish ) I love how complex and deep Harry's world is, all the layers and incredible intertwining mythologies and canon from previous stories.
Like Harry, I miss his old life (the lab, Bob, the Beetle, Molly and being a Wizard for Hire) so I felt his regret and heartache. However, I am enjoying the new drama and his continuing battle with the Winter mantle.
Overall: loved it

I love this show!
Found this fanvid - greating editing and music choice. As per the title, covers season 1 to season 5
I believe I am smitten with...
Nov. 18th, 2016 09:50 pmOh, yeah. Got it bad. I was/am a fan of Mel Gibson's Riggs, but gosh darn, I am even MORE smitten with Clayne Crawford's Riggs.
Mel's Martin was crazy and funny.
Clayne brings so much more emotion, tenderness, hurt!crazy and awesomeness to the character. I love his hair, his 'tasche, his accent, his wounded, puppy eyes, his need to be hugged, his being a veteran, the ridiculous hair, just ... sigh.
I love this show. I do, I really really do!
Supply and Demand 4: Scarce Skills - 6/?
Oct. 31st, 2016 07:37 pmauthor: tari_roo
Rating: Gen – PG13
Disclaimer: I own nothing and profit from nothing. But if I did, SGA would still on air and Dean would have super powers.
Summary: Life on Atlantis is about to get very interesting as the Trust launch their newest plan. Good thing Dean is still on board, as the ‘interesting’ gets weird… fast.
Warnings: This is AU for SPN season three onwards and set post season five. No real spoilers for either series but you should really know them both

Bag-end Bakery: Butter, cream, eggs
Oct. 31st, 2016 07:32 pmBag End Bakery: Butter, cream, eggs

Rating: Gen
Disclaimer: I own nothing and profit from nothing. But if I did, The Hobbit would have been two brilliant movies and Kili and Fili would not have died
Summary: Bilbo had always wanted to be a baker but time, society and breeding did not permit such frivolities. That is however, until a party of Dwarves turned his quiet evening upside down and Bilbo finds himself on the improbable path of baking albeit not for a living, but because he loves it. Oh, and it may just save all of their lives, or at least their digestive tracts. Good baking generally does.
Warnings: This is quite obviously an AU. If you are reading this, I assume that you know the books or the movies. If you don't, please feel free to read anyway. It's the coffee-shop slash bakery AU without any pairings that you were not expecting. I know I wasn't. For those on a diet (er, why do I do this to myself) read with caution. Vegetarians be warned – descriptions of delicious roasts, etc.
Author note: My first Bakery AU. Happily researched by watching copious hours of GBBO and Masterchef. This will be part one of a series of 'can be read as complete stories'.

Supergirl season 2
Oct. 15th, 2016 11:25 am( click for some spoilery thoughts )
All in all, thank you CW for reviving Supergirl. Thank you.
I look forward to more :)
On a side note, I am NOT watching the Flash until at least 4 episodes have aired. I want any flashpoint paradox timelines RESOLVED or ESTABLISHED enough that I do not have more ridiculous stupid Barry induced cliffhangers. Pfff. Stupid Barry.
