So Season 2 is done, there's been a runaway bride that isn't Julia Roberts (but still had red hair) and now a medical feisty Martha.

My thoughts...

I wasn't sad to see Rose (and her family) go but I was kinda touched by the whole scene and the Doctor's emotions about it all. Rose certainly added life and spark to the Doctor and as much as she annoyed me, I think I agree with [livejournal.com profile] iyalode's sentiments about her being good for him.

But Donna (Catherine Tate) just cracked me up no end. I really really wanted her to stay with the Doctor. Her humour and thickness about some things was just... wonderful! The whole story for Runaway Bride was fantastic and I liked the parallel's to Amy in season five. Red headed brides obviously made an impression on Ten :)

I hope Donna appears again! (Don't spoil me if she does)

And now Martha. One episode of season three in and I already like her more than Rose. Quick, witty, intelligent and well... kinda wonderful (and this after just one episode).

I look forward to more Martha.

I am restraining myself from watching more season 5 as I don't want to get the sequence any more confused than I already have.

And I still find the Daleks utterly ridiculous. How can anyone take them seriously when they have no discernable ability to open a can of soda without blowing it up? Sure, sure, they got weapons and a giant sucker, but really? no thumbs, no fingers, no ... I give up.

Yup. RTD- Russell T Davies.

Steven Moffat has really lived up to his promise. His episodes were always the best in the first couple years (and kept winning hugo awards). I only wish his reign had started a bit earlier. I love Matt Smith and all the rest with a passion, but something that drove me nuts about season 4 was that it didn't live up to the talent. The acting and chemistry was always fantastic, but the writing just wasn't there to back it up.

I started watching Doctor Who when I lived in the UK. Fandom for the show is kind of a national thing there. Way before I actually knew anything about any fandom of any sort, my friends would say things like, "ooh, steven moffat episode tonight. awesome." And spoilers and interviews were published in all the papers and middle aged checkout stand ladies would remark on my book bag (which could expand to hold a lot of stuff) and say things like, "ooh, it's like the tardis in there".

Kvetching about the writing always takes me back :-D

*snort* Russell T Davies! :) Thanks for the insight :)

Alas, I had already left the UK by the Dr Who (new) started so I missed out on all that.

Have you seen the Never Mind the Buzzcocks episode that David Tennant hosted? the one with Catherine Tate as a guest? One of my favs (next to the Josh Groban one).

I just watched 5.8 and 5.9 and all worried about Rory... sigh.
