Dear flist who have read Jim Butcher's Academ's Fury..
I am thoroughly intrigued with this instalment of the series but am not really enjoying it. Why? It's stressful send full of tension. When I am stressed and tense in RL I can't or won't read stressful books. But I want to know what happens!!!
So, can you help? A few questions:
1. Do the vord last more than this book? Are they a protagonist for the series?
2. How much of the book is about political intrigue? Will there be action aside from fighting the vord?
3. Can I skip this one and go straight to No. 3?

2) Quite a lot? While there is always politics and political intrigue going on, in this one there is the most of it since Tavi is at the Academy and therefore "right at the source" of it. There is some action but I can't remember if it is all related to the Vord or not.
3) Well, you meet some very important characters in this book which have big roles in the following books and there are some references to things that happen in 2. You might be able to skip it and still get most of them, though.
I hope this helps. :)

3. you absolutely cannot skip this book.
bonus: it all turns out alright in the end, with some very intriguing leads into the next book.
