Sookie Stackhouse series (True Blood)
Jul. 22nd, 2014 06:23 pmHi Flist,
I'd appreciate your assistance. After chatting to a friend who recommended True Blood/Sookie as a good series to read, I downloaded a sample on kindle because a) she said it was not like the tv series, which I do not like and b) I tend to be drawn to vampire fic *shrugs* against my better judgement. But I am a fussy vampfic reader. I didn't like Anne Rice (snore) and most of the twilight craze books I dislike.
Anyhoo, what do you recommend, Flist? Should I try Sookie? I don't like graphic sex in books (I skip moderate, slim sex scenes anyway) and distrubing violence bothers me a lot in books (mental images!). Shall I try or run away?
Because so far the sample is good, despite the first person pov. Does Sookie get annoying?
Thanks
edit:
Thank goodness for free versions of books! I have continued reading and am now more intrigued by the whodunnit than the actual Sookie/Bill story. I'll finish book 1, but there's a strong likelihood I won't continue. It has too much of the MS fanfic vibe for my inner cynical fanfic reader to stomach but then, I am probably WAY too hypercritical about that.
Thanks Flist who replied! Appreciate it!

Books I've been reading and stuff.
Apr. 20th, 2014 10:20 pmI've been reading a lot recently. I seem to have caught the reading bug from
saphirablue and well, reading. Also, I think reading is easier than writing as I tend to get frustrated with a lack of time, and reading can be 'paused' a lot easier than a good writing session.
