Favourite H/C moments in Fic - no 4

This moment/button is one I like to indulge in periodically: disability fic.
Supernatural is a great fandom for this, but I have read some great SGA, M7 and other fandom fics in this genre. It is more a genre than a button, but its certainly one of mine. This expands to perm!disability which I know is not everyone's cup of tea, right down to temp disability.
I have the greatest of respect and admiration for real life individuals who live with disabilities. Their courage and endurance in the face of these challenges are inspiring and humbly when you consider the much smaller trials and difficulties in your own life. And as a result, I think this is part of why I like disability fic. A character I like (but do not have the same emotional investment with like an RL family member or friend) goes through an incredible life changing experience. Those stories are moving and powerful (generally) and touch on heart warming and sensitive subjects. Both the character who has been disabled/hurt/injured and the family/friend character who needs to offer support and encouragement (and likewise receive their own support) add to the mix of enjoyment in the story.
Here then, are some of my fav disablity(perm and temp) fics:
The Sky is less blue - Blind!Sheppard
Bellatemple's but Deadly verse - Mute!Dean
From a Scream to a Whisper - Mute!Dean
Deficits and Handicaps - Perm!Injury!Dean
Ratherastory's Fusion verse - Perm!Injury!Dean
Rose's in December - Injuredleg!Dean
Roque_clasique's Drive verse - Injuredleg!Dean
No More Words - Mute!Injured!Vin

Date: 2012-04-01 07:36 pm (UTC)He has taken a lot of malicious teasing while he is in custody so it is difficult for Ronon to approach him initially
As they leave the facility, the badgering continues and Ronon has to beat them off.........
Very poignant. . .

Date: 2012-04-07 05:20 pm (UTC)And it doesn't help that evil plotbunnies sneak up on you when you take a walk and demand that they are being carried to the Prompt Post of Prompt Fest. Immediately. *sigh*

Date: 2012-04-07 05:39 pm (UTC)Oh, really? New prompts - *dashes off to see*
Those plot bunnies are peravise indeed (and virulent!)
But we love 'em too.
