Meme: Headcanon

As seen on other LJs and I swear from Monday not even evil_[livejournal.com profile] auntmo9 will tempt back to LJ and non-writing. But since this meme helps with writing *cough* :)

Give me a character and I'll tell you a piece of my personal headcanon.

[livejournal.com profile] schneefink and I have already had a nice chat about headcanon, so go :)

Hmm...since I am partly to blame for this, I will participate. While I am tempted to go the Sheldon route, I will say....

Rodney McKay

Oh, I wish you had gone Shelly! :( 'Cos that would have been fun ;)

Anyhoo, Rodney Meredith McKay.

Like most socially awkward, smart kids, Rodney had a tough time in High School. However, he found college strangely liberating where his genius was finally appreciated. He fully expected this to continue into his working life, but the SGC (and Sam Carter) certainly gave him a rude awakening.

So, he's still (to this day, because the Atlantis misson is still going strong) amazed that the 'cool' kids are friends with him. Rodney has no idea why Sheppard likes him, but will never walk away from that friendship.

Rodney has no idea what makes Sheppard tick (see I end going into Shep headcanon), is still afraid of Teyla, and despite every indication, really likes Ronon :)

And he is not also afraid of Ronon, despite liking him?

And since I am evil,I will tempt you and say you can do two and give me your head canon on Shelly if you want. No one stopping you here.

Oh no, Mer is terrified of Ronon ;) But he likes him too :)

Oh, Shelly. SHELLY! :)

On the surface, and perhaps blindly, he sees himself as Spock. The half alien outsider, looking in on a society he doesn't understand. And he's pretty fixated on that association. He doesn't want to understand everyone else.

however, Spock eventually came to terms with his humanity. Sheldon? Sheldon is Will Wheaton. Which is why (for a time) he hated him ;) To see the darker, less pleasant side of who he is. Shelly is Will - the annoying, know it all kid on a spaceship who really should have been airlocked on day one, except for his annoying habit of saving the day ;)

Yes, Sheldon is Wil Wheaton! He is his own "mortal enemy"! Of course now that Wil is his friend and DataBrent Spiner is his mortal enemy, that makes for a new and interesting dynamic, since Data is very Spock-like.

Oh, don't get me started on Shelly's development from annoying Man-child to functioning member of society! :)

I don't know if Chuck Lorre is doing it deliberately or if its' happy happenstance/conincidence, but as Sheldon has 'grown' through his association with his friends (mostly Amy and Penny) he's moved from Wheton/Crusher-esque behaviour to now Spiner/Data-like exploration of the range of human emotions. And his flawed mirror (object of hate) has moved from Wil to Brett in direct correlation.

His end goal is Spock. A happy medium of logic, emotion, humanity and alien entity :) Whether he gets there or not, well.... it all depends on who kills him first.
