I think we all understand the Kili attraction *lol* I think you hit the nail on the head - very little advancement of the story. I know they need to save enough for a big climatic movie, but honestly, not too sure there is much more (if they keep it all)

Oh well, Thorin and Kili are still hot, Bilbo and Gandalf are awesome and I love it all, wrapped together (even if some of the individual parts are less loved)
